Nussbaum Recognized for Sustainability Efforts

For the third year in a row, Heavy Duty Trucking Magazine has chosen Nussbaum as a Top Green Fleet. We are honored to be included alongside such a distinguished group of carriers!

“The Top Green Fleets — selected annually by HDT’s editors — honors leaders in sustainability efforts among all sizes and types of trucking fleets,” says HDT. This includes “…areas such as fleet electrification; alternative and renewable fuels; cleaner-burning engines; fuel efficiency; freight efficiency; “green” facilities; and testing new sustainable technologies.”

Nussbaum’s approach to sustainability focuses on technology and training. We give our drivers best-in-class equipment and then teach them to maximize its potential. This includes:

Equipment

  • Growing number of 6×4 axel trucks
  • Solar panels (reduced idle time and battery consumption)
  • Trailer flaps and skirts
  • Tire inflation units
  • Cab extenders

Training

  • Excelerator Scorecard Program – incentivizes fuel efficient habits (smooth driving, speed limiting, throttle usage, idle time)
  • Certified RED Program – coaches drivers on improving their scorecard (efficiency)

Increasing fuel efficiency decreases our carbon footprint, fuel consumption, and overall costs. Thus, we owe our success in this arena to our drivers’ hard work and dedication! Their commitment to excellence has made Nussbaum a leader in fuel efficiency and environmental responsibility.
