Hudson, IL: Nussbaum Transportation, a nationwide truckload services provider, has announced a pay increase for Over-the-Road (OTR), Regional, Flatbed, and Student drivers, effective November 27. The increases are as follows:
Over-the-Road & Regional Drivers
- Mileage: + $0.02/mile
- Guarantee: + $50/week
- PTO/Holiday Rate: + $10/day
Student Drivers
- Mileage: + $0.02/mile (during solo training phases; fully eligible upon graduation)
- Guarantee: + $50/week (eligible upon graduation)
- PTO/Holiday Rate: + $10/day
Flatbed Drivers
- Mileage: + $0.03/mile
- Guarantee: + $150/week
- PTO/Holiday Rate: + $30/day
- Oversize Pay: + $0.10-20/mile & $50-100 flat, per load (based on load size)
With this increase, a new OTR driver with six months of experience can expect to earn $80-84,000 in their first year ($1,600 – $1,700 per week). More experienced drivers start at a higher pay scale. The average driver in Nussbaum’s OTR fleet will now earn approximately $90,000 annually, and those who engage with Nussbaum’s scorecard and Certified RED programs can earn significantly more.
Nussbaum made this increase before the holiday/winter season so drivers could reap the benefits right away. Winter brings unique challenges for drivers, and a pay increase offers an extra layer of security. Additionally, high inflation is cutting into driver earnings, and the increase is intended to mitigate that impact.
“We realize life isn’t all about the money,” says Jeremy Stickling, Chief Administrative Officer. “But we hope this increase, even in this kind of freight environment, communicates the value we place on our professional drivers.”
