For Where Your Treasure Is...

Matthew 6:21 reads, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

This year, as we thought of ways to celebrate Driver Appreciation Week, this verse came to mind – and it made us think about our drivers.

 What’s the connection, you ask?

The verse talks about treasure. What image does that word conjure for you? A chest of pirate’s booty? A pile of money? Time? Family and friends?

In reality, our “treasures” are where we spend the most time. The things we treasure command our attention, our resources, and our thoughts. And if we’re not careful, we can wind up treasuring the wrong things! Prioritizing what really matters requires commitment – every single day.

...There Will Your Heart Be Also

At Nussbaum, our treasure (priority, focus) is our drivers, and we work hard to ensure it stays that way. But what that does that look like on a daily basis? How do we actively “treasure” our drivers? Here’s a few examples:

  • The safety team coaches drivers to grow their skillsets and do well on the scorecard. Why? Because we want our drivers to be safe and earn as much as they can.
  • The load planners spend a great deal of time analyzing and selecting the best possible loads/routes for drivers. Why? Because we want our drivers to be profitable, but also have a smooth, efficient week.
  • The sales team advocates for our drivers by negotiating the best contract rates and pursuing lanes that fit Nussbaum’s system. Why? Because our drivers deserve the highest possible compensation and fair workloads.
  • Our Driver Managers do their best to answer questions and help drivers solve day-to-day problems. They work with departments across Nussbaum to ensure that each drivers’ needs are met. Why? Because we recognize that drivers are human beings – not truck numbers.

It's Time to Celebrate!

As we celebrate Driver Appreciation Week, we want our drivers to know that they are treasured.

You are more to us than a group of men and women who do a job.

You are more than a means for this company to make money. You are an amazing group of professionals that we are proud to call team members, fellow employee-owners, and friends. We look forward to sharing this special week with you!

Happy Driver Appreciation Week!
